Subject:  Beans following sod

Our neighbor has 300 acres near our farm in central NY that is in sod - 40% grass and 60% weeds.  It's been that way for a few years.  Midwesterners (I was one once) that saw the land would think it was CRP ground.  Unlike the midwest there is a lot of farm land in NY that doesn't get farmed.   With the price of beans we thought about plowing up the sod and putting in beans.  We would burn down  the sod with round up, moldboard plow, disc (twice probably) incorporate weed killer and plant round up ready beans.  Can we follow the sod with beans or are we nuts?   For a number of reasons we aren't planting corn on the sod ground and planting beans where we intend to plant corn.  Any advice would be appreciated.
