Subject:  % immature??

Just looked at the crop progress report

Looked at the % immature chart for some bigger corn producing states-hadn't paid any previous attention to that chart

Anything rated immature at this time of yr. is probably not worth much

That total immature acreage seems to be a significant chunk of corn [5-10%] in some bigger corn producing states

Add in the over 30-35% corn, mostly in the same states

How much does this reduce the total amount of quality corn available to the enduser???

Deduct the increased amount of fines, coming out of the drier

Some elevators won't accept beans over 15%. What to do with 18% beans in the field and not enough farm storage for both corn and beans-even those with bins but slower drying capacity

Probably because elevators are drying corn and can't do both

Either beans are dry or they don't store very well, everybody knows this

Seems indian summer will be a little shorter, this yr.

We have 20% of our beans in the field

Just started corn today. The latest I have ever started 26.5% on our earliest planted field

We did 2 truck loads and got rained out-corn went in the wet bin-didn't even start the corn drier, till we can do more-just turned on the big air fan

Bean bin is full of mostly dry enough beans for the fans, but no bin space with fans] for the 20% left in the field, and the elevator wants them at least 15%. We can rent bins, if the beans are dry enough.

The problems just keep on coming and now this weather that was not what we were supposed to have.

Most corn fields have 30% corn, or higher and quality issues [mold], just to irritate a lot of people. Some are finding drier corn, but very few. We were suprised, but corn did go to 29% in some small areas

At least we don't see any grain quality issues, on our farm -so far - but did see some black cob tips a few weeks ago - so maybe the corn quality is a bigger issue than we all thought, once we get to different places

Who wants to buy low test wt and mold/toxins that started in the field. What kind of processed yield do the processors or importers pay for???

Big yields and fewer buyers??? for crappy corn, next summer??? Will discounts increase as the volume of crappy corn increases???

Need 2 production numbers

One for quality corn and the other for lower quality -blenders will put to the test, this coming yr.

Keep your good corn, if you in an area that is doing okay. Somebody will need it
